In a recent virtual workshop, Summit's Chief Revenue Officer Kevin Armstrong teamed up with IT thought leaders Jeff DeVerter and Jordan Lowe to discuss some of the major shifts happening in tech today, including AI, power challenges, cloud repatriation, and hybrid cloud strategies. Their conversation offered key insights for organizations navigating the maze of IT infrastructure decisions.

Here are the top takeaways from our experts:

  • Tailored cloud solutions are critical: Cloud infrastructure decisions should be made based on the unique context of each organization. There isn't a one-size-fits-all solution, and the best approach depends on specific use cases. Whether it’s public, private, or hybrid cloud, the focus should be on placing workloads in the right environment to achieve the best performance and cost.
  • Hybrid cloud is the future: Building on that last point, hybrid cloud strategies are essential for almost all businesses. Organizations should leverage the strengths of both public and private clouds based on their workload requirements. A balanced approach is essential for flexibility and optimal performance.
  • Cloud repatriation is not anti-public cloud: Cloud repatriation isn't about rejecting public cloud entirely. Public cloud still serves many important use cases, especially in testing and early-stage AI projects. However, as organizations grow, there may be a need to repatriate workloads to an on-prem environment for better cost management.
  • Personalized recommendations are key: At Summit, we believe that no two businesses are the same, which is why we focus on finding the best solutions for each client’s unique situation. We’re not here to push a specific product or service; we’re here to help businesses make well-informed decisions, even if it means recommending a solution outside of our offerings.
  • Prioritize expertise over products: A major theme of the conversation was about selling solutions, not specific technologies. Every business has its own unique challenges, so rather than pushing a particular product or platform, we focus on understanding your needs and recommending the best fit for your goals. It’s about solving problems and delivering value — whether that involves hybrid cloud, repatriation, or another approach entirely. Our priority is to offer expert solutions that drive results, ensuring you get what works best vs. the latest tech trend.
